Stop by this hidden gem to enjoy a great landscape and beautiful headstones!
 

 


Hilliard Community Cemetery is tucked away just north of Hilliard and features some remarkable headstones: poured cement, painted ledgers, wooden markers and more.


Who: Managed by the Hilliard Community Cemetery Association

What: This predominantly African-American cemetery dates back to the late 1880s and is still in use today.

Where: Next to Mount Charity Baptist Church on US 1, 1 mile north of the intersection with Co. Rd. 108

When: Open daily from sunrise to sunset

Why:
  • Beautiful vernacular markers including poured cement and brightly painted ledgers
  • In situ wooden marker!
  • Beautiful 'Old Florida' setting including oaks, scrub and sandy soils
